Played from a third-person perspective set behind the lead protagonist, Heist offers a free-roaming city with the ability to enter (and rob) bars, restaurants, strip clubs, and other establishments. Sutton can even broker deals with "connected" union workers, irate activists, and other groups to provide helpful distractions. As players acquire the tools of the trade and learn how to bypass security systems and neutralize armed guards, their newfound reputation will attract the attention of local law enforcement. Police chases and high-speed getaways are a big part of Heist, with players trying to elude their pursuers on busy city streets while minimizing civilian casualties. The police will set up barricades, ram vehicles, and do whatever it takes to bring Sutton and his safecracking crew down, so driving skills are must to continue a lucrative life of crime. In addition to the clothing, hairstyles, and muscle cars from the time period, Heist also includes a 1960s-era soundtrack to groove to while knocking off banks.
