Trying to gauge Gram Parsons' mighty influence on popular music would be as unfathomable as what made him think he could mess with the musical status quo in the first place. If he hadn't believed there were no limits and restrictions, he wouldn't have crossed that rigid line between rock and country. Gram defiantly stepped into brand-new musical territory wearing a knowing smile and a cowboy Nudie suit emblazoned with dangerous substances. He was a man on a mission, and he was unstoppable.

Gram believed he was a kindred spirit to the country king of sorrow, George Jones, but he was still able to (literally) embrace the slippery raunch of the Rolling Stones. He stirred classic Hank Williams honky tonk into a bubbling brew of backbeats and pedal steel, calling this brave new sound "Cosmic American Music." In his canny, graceful way, this rebel set about blazing the road less traveled that open-souled musicians still gladly follow today.

Gram's short, sweet stay here on Earth was fraught with trials, tests and tenderness, which he put into song. Gram's daughter, Polly, assembled a group of her father's peers and admirers for this stellar tribute concert - an outpouring of love and gratitude for music's finest old boy.
