Blu-ray Format Movies - A Guide

Blu-ray discs are a completely new generation of optical discs for storage of video content. Blu-ray has become a big player against HD-DVD in the ongoing format war to become the new video standard. Blu-Ray systems use a blue ultraviolet laser instead of the red laser used by DVD and HD-DVD players. Some Blu-ray movies are region coded just like a DVD, but a lot of them are actual region free and can be played on any player regarding origin. To play a Blu-ray Disc you will need a Blu-ray Disc player or a Blu-ray Disc-compatible system. The resolution of a Blu-ray is up to 1080p which can be taken full advantage of with an HD-ready Television (HDTV). Read more about the Blu-ray format here.
