We’ve just added a new, cool feature on product pages for Blu-ray movies.

A pie chart will show the distribution of region free vs. region locked releases from the studio of that particular Blu-ray title.

The chart is based on all tested titles, i.e. titles that have been confirmed region free or region locked.

The chart will give a good idea of how likely it is for a future release (or not-yet-tested release) from a specific studio to be region free.

As you may know, there are studios on our “Region free studios” list, that all have released region free Blu-rays only.

The charts are based entirely on AxelMusic.com’s catalogue.

We have added a new feature within the search bar. When you do a search, automatic search suggestions will appear below the search box.

To use the search suggestions feature, simple type a few letters and use the arrow keys on your keyboard to select the title. Hit enter and your search results will load.

The search will start suggesting after you have entered three or more letters.

The suggestions are based on popularity, and the titles appear in an order of what you are more likely to be searching for. As the suggestions are based on popularity of titles, we have made sure you will not see results that you are more unlikely to be searching for. If you are looking for a very specific title and not well known title, you will have to use the search as normal

As requested we have now added more categories in the DVD category options for newsletter preferences.

Log in to your AxelMusic account and change your newsletter preferences in your profile.

Please note that selecting specific categories will not mean your customized newsletter will include only that category. For example, there may only be three new anime titles available, which means the titles in a specific category will be added to your customized newsletter according to your preferences and according to how many new titles are available.

We’re introducing customized newsletters!

Log in to your AxelMusic account and go into your profile settings. You will be able to subscribe to weekly AxelMusic newsletter simply by ticking the box.

The newsletter will automatically be sent to the email address associated with your AxelMusic account and include the latest titles and best offers available in the store.

By default the newsletter will include Blu-ray and DVD titles, but you may choose to further customize your newsletters, by selecting specific categories and formats, which includes video games.

If you are looking for Region Free Blu-ray titles, be sure to tick “Region Free Titles Preferred” to receive the newest Region Free releases before unconfirmed/Region A releases.

The newsletter will be customized and sent to you based on your preferences and automatically include the titles that match your preferences best.

We have added a new feature in the order history page, where you can help to improve the shipping time to your country.

When you receive a package from us, all you need to do it login to your AxelMusic account and submit the date of arrival and let us know which postal services was used for your package. By providing us with this information, we will be able to reduce shipping times to your destination country.

Region Free Blu-ray players are still hard to come by. In a continuous effort to keep you informed of which Blu-ray titles are Region Free, here’s an update to the site.

We have now implemented a feature for titles that have been confirmed region locked (i.e. only playable in the region it’s released in). If a title is tested and confirmed region locked it will have the following box on the product page:

We have also added an information box on yet-to-be-tested-and-confirmed Region Free or locked Blu-ray titles:

We’re hoping this will help you spot the titles that are Region Free better. Here’s a list of the ’status’ a Blu-ray title can have in terms of region coding:

• Region Free
Look for the green badge on thumbnails and product pages (example: Cloverfield).

• Most likely Region Free-preorders
Based on a list of studios, which have only released Region Free Blu-ray titles so far, we clearly mark whether a title is likely to be region free (example: Warner preorders).

• Confirmed Region A new
Blu-ray titles that are tested and confirmed to be Region A only now have a box (see above), which clearly informs you of the region coding and reminds you to have a Region A-compatible Blu-ray player in order to play the title (example: Hitman).

• Yet-to-be-tested-and-confirmed Region Free or locked new
Titles that have yet to be tested and confirmed now have a box, which tells you that it’s yet to be tested and confirmed and also gives you an option of getting an email notification (see this blog post). Please note, these titles are not necessarily preorders. Here’s an article we put together on this subject.

Now, instead of checking the site or a specific title, you can get an email notification if a Blu-ray title is confirmed Region Free.

Welcome to our new Blog, which we’re very excited to introduce!

In the Blog, we will announce new features of the site. Some of the features you may be able to notice, while other features are more hidden, but equally as beneficiary for your experience on the site.

We will also use the blog to talk about upcoming releases that are of great interest, industry news, announce region free Blu-rays and other exciting subjects.

As this is the first post, we’d like to take this chance to talk about some of the new features recently introduced:

• Region Free badge on thumbnails:
We’ve made it more easier to spot the region free Blu-ray titles when browsing the site. It’s possible to now instantly spot the region free titles in list views, or when browsing the main Blu-ray section.

• PS3 games:
We now offer PS3 games in our store. We know a lot of you already own a PS3 console to play your collection of Blu-ray movies, so we thought PS3 games was a great addition to our already extensive catalogue. PS3 games are region free and there are lots of exciting titles to look forward to in the next few months, such as Fallout 3, BioShock, FIFA Soccer 09, Rock Band 2, Far Cry 2, Resident Evil 5 and many more.

• Lower shipping costs:
As you may have noticed, we have lowered our shipping costs. Shipping now costs up to 33% less per 100 grams (depending on the currency).

• PayPal as an integrated payment option:
It’s now easier than ever to pay with PayPal at AxelMusic! Instead of tedious transfer, we now offer PayPal payment in our checkout. Checkout as normal, select the PayPal payment option and you’re automatically directed to PayPal’s checkout system. When you’re all done, you’ll be redirected back to your favorite shopping site in no time!
